Snow condition
Without stone skis, descents up to 800m are possible, at the top in the Baldenweger area in the wind-protected area there is now 60-80cm of snow. The summits have been blown off and are virtually free.
Snow quality
Since yesterday we've had another 10cm of light powder and this time with significantly less wind than last time. The snow hasn't settled underneath yet and we haven't noticed a cap, as reported in some places. Only the amount kept me from the fourth star :)
Risks
Massive drifting snow has also been transported in the Baldenweger, partly in areas that are otherwise not so badly affected. We were unable to identify any other avalanche warning signs apart from drift snow.
Overall impression
So it's fun, finally enough snow to ski on the Black Forest mountains without the handbrake.
Today there were crowds out again, it's frightening how many new tourers are out and about and obviously don't have any safety equipment or any idea where they are actually going. Let's hope that luck stays on their side and that the mountain rescue service won't soon be called out again to search for avalanches in the low mountain ranges.
The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.
Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
