Snow condition
Nothing to complain about from top to bottom! The snow was blown in by a south-westerly wind, which is why you can find drift snow packs on north-eastern slopes, especially above the tree line.
Snow quality
After the 20cm of Sunday and Monday and the already snowy winter in Valais, everything is passable here despite the partly dense forest, because it's snowed over! There's an additional 10cm of fresh snow today, above the tree line partly blown in with up to 30cm in hollows. The snow is cold, crunchy and it's still snowing.
Risks
The SLF issues a 3 for today. We stay below 2000 meters altitude and thus avoid the "everything-can-nothing-must-3". In the last few meters of the forest, where the wind has driven the snow, we trigger an approx. 2m long and very short snow slab on the ascent.
Overall impression
Ascent from Niederwald through a very pretty, moss-covered, mystical forest as First Tracks. The tracks are pleasant as the snow is loose and cold. The descent at the top is an absolute blower in the light larches, in the lower forest from 1500 the tracks from the weekend are not yet completely snowed over again, but can be skied nicely despite the gradient!
