I'm already too spoiled by this winter, otherwise it would certainly be a 5-star day. There's cold fresh snow at the top with no wind, you can shorten the descent and sweep through the forest to the village of Blatten. The Upper Valais can't be compared with the north side of the Alps at the moment, but even here it has a stable base that no longer lets any nasty shark stones shine through.

Cold, windless snow awaits us at the top next to and on the ski route that begins after the famous Belalp Tunnel. To the south-east, there is a light cover from midday onwards, thanks to daytime warming. But it remains cold and in pure south expo the pow is wonderfully fluffy all day long. But it's also really cold!

Risks

A 3 Plus according to SLF. We see the descent of a snow slab in the Expo Südost, the well-known ridge avalanche has not been shot today. But the helicopter was there in the morning - you can see bullet holes above the steep rocks on the uppermost chair. Our amateur observation discovers a layer of fresh snow of about 20 cm sliding on a wind-blown surface of old snow.

Impressively good snow for low expectations, cold, fluffy, good runs until the afternoon! A day of witches' powder hunting on the Belalp
