Snow condition
"Snow" lies from 1700 upwards, rideable - and that means for me - off-piste rideable, it is unfortunately only above 2500m.
Snow quality
I'll break down the snow quality by altitude: up - up to 2600: Warm fresh snow, sticky, but just enough so that your skin doesn't stubble when you walk up. On the descent in snow-covered hollows, pretty chic. Otherwise, unfortunately, the 140km/h wind took everything that had fallen overnight (approx. 15-20cm).2600-2000hm: even if you want to go straight through the forest, you can't make any progress. It stops brutally. No amount of warm wax or the strongest backing will help. 2000- 1700hm: At least it slides here again! Waterskiing deluxe ;) (See photo 6)
Risks
Officially a 3 today for the main Alpine ridge. Individual snowballs roll past us in the 35° steep forest. But they don't really increase in size. We don't see any boards and there are no gliding snow slides to be seen until midday.
Overall impression
This was a Sunday for the sauna, spa or bed. Those who really wanted to get out were rewarded with cardboard snow and full-throttle wind. At least the sauna feels more rewarding afterwards!
