Snow condition

It's snowing all the way down to the Rhone valley today. There's a really thick base all the way down, i.e. up to 1500m. On the south-facing slopes, you get to the February sun-crusted base faster. Otherwise bottomless. Flowing, over both shoulders - regardless of the size of the skier. Be careful, barbed wire is sometimes not suspended and be careful - take the wide skis!

Fluffy, unbound, getting better with every hour.

Risks

SLF calls out a 4 today, considerably. And rightly so. It's probably almost 1m of fresh snow cumulatively by now and continues to snow all day. You don't notice the wind in the forest, but it's whistling at the top, so we're strictly below the tree line. Apart from the corners of our mouths (up to our ears), nothing slips here.

Being stranded in Valais isn't so bad after all. When you're standing in the steep, snow-covered forest of the Upper Valais at 11 a.m., the morning calls to closed ski resorts, organization and two missed trains have paid off. Expected nothing, got everything. Gondolas are super empty today, it continues to snow all day, our tracks are covered again after every 2nd run - I don't know what's wrong with 5 stars here. The snow flows over my shoulders, the larches smile at me and I greet the few little men in the area with a mask because I keep seeing them again. It remains cold at 8°C at 2000m and it continues to snow. I think the next few days will be pretty much the same!

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
