Pila - nice slope cruising towards the end of the season
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
Divided into two parts: Above the tree line still very good (the slopes here are mainly north-facing, practically no snow-covered areas), in the forest and generally below approx. 2200 m there are already some snow-covered areas and the rare south-west-facing slopes here are already partially snow-covered over large areas.
Snow quality
The piste was great, nicely groomed at midday but not slushy. In addition to the piste, there were also some nice slopes where the sun could reach a little; shady slopes were covered with old, hard-frozen tracks and absolutely not good to ski.
Risks
Spring conditions below approx. 2700 m. Above that, no freeze-swell with the diurnal cycle, and therefore drift snow still present on high alpine north-facing slopes (LLB 2).
Overall impression
A few more fun hours on the skis, with lots of sunshine and no crowds at the lifts, before the Aosta Valley heads even more towards early summer over the next few days.
