Snow condition
the cr refers to valgrisenche (1) and valle san bernardo (2). on tues. (16.12.) it snowed down to the valleys, without much wind. this fresh snow has of course long since disappeared again. above approx. 1600m there was up to 10cm of fresh snow. from approx. 2000m this also fell on a usable base. many slopes with expo s had previously snowed out far above this.for reasonable ski tours in (1) you need an approach/descent below 2200m, via a tow path. forest steps, ridges and stony cirques are not advisable. in (2) it looks much better in expo n-o. here 1600m is enough as a starting altitude and forest steps are also no problem. for the current conditions I would even award an extra star here.
Snow quality
expo n-o, pow. partly slightly capped on a fairly well supporting base. but quite heavy in the meantime. today in the afternoon at 1600m, +1°C. in expo s also still powdery and above 2600m still no cap.
Risks
Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)
the italian lawi currently gives a 2 for the area above 2600m, with drifting snow and an old snow problem, in expo. n. i would agree with that. since tuesday rather little wind, some sunshine and there are also some snow slabs to be seen, in the meantime snowy again.
Overall impression
remains the same over the weekend (good), lawi even decreases. re-evaluate from mo. on! for the whole southern alps a lot of fresh snow is predicted.
