Snow condition
Very much good enough, no sharks to be expected, thanks to the homogeneous snow cover. Only the snow plowing of the road towards a holiday apartment is an immense disgrace. But the fresh snow fallen during the day covered it again so it was skiable in the descent, and more snow is to come on Thursday! Noting that this is retrospect of 17/02, winds have hit the valley, and the situation might have changed.

Snow quality
15 cms of race powder, no hard crust below. No complaints, just humble gratitude.
Risks
Wind intensity: No Wind (0 km/h)
This is tough to compile, evenmoreso because I write in retrospect of 3 days. But we at this point of time could not identify any of the given avalanche dangers. The persistent weak layer problem (pwlp) is gone and buried. It is too much snow and gravity and warmth did their best. Several ECS tests showed no release. The wind slabs, might have changed with the night of 15/02, were not present at all. The avalanche danger level of 3 we could therefore not confirm, and it seemed plain. For the last report (05/02 by SilviaBarbieri) we had a level of 4, with still the claim of the "pwlp", and we already saw the snow stabilising. In turn, on the day after all the snowfalls (29/01), it was called a level of 3, but this was the most serious day in my perception. So always interpret the local avalanche report with your own observations. It can go both ways. Then again, see my report on Brenta (15/02) for an example of how quickly conditions can change. Valle dei Mocheni surely also was affected by those heavy winds, that woke us from our deep sleep, and conditions must be reevaluated.
Overall impression
We did not summit Pizzo Alto, not even in my third attempt this year, this time due to lack of visibility, not for the avalanche danger. About conditions, the skiing was fast and good. But, Big Air in Bersntol. One of us had forgotten his backpack in the car, so we built a kicker early on. Any wasting of time was most welcome, since it was snowing, as it was predicted by ICON, see the Powdergrams in the photos, which is new feature of the near future PG-ICON-map. The Olympics are one thing, the intensification of tourism of your home valley is another thing, both distressing, but building a kicker and sending it was the right response. Big Air Mocheni! With Marc, Chris and Nia, and Gio and Miki, who successfully sent his thesis that day.
