Snow report Vaud and Fribourg Alps, 01/27/2015
Powder meets France (Port Du Soleil) Part 1:
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
The base can be considered insufficient. In the steeper passages, contact with the ground had to be expected very often, which was noticeable in all expos. In the flat passages, however, the 20cm of powder could still be enjoyed. The powder was okay and the crust layer underneath wasn't very noticeable, so it didn't stand out negatively. We were able to make out areas of drift snow but not as pronounced as described in the LLB. Technically the wind picked up a bit today, yesterday it was relatively calm.
Snow quality
The snow was decent yesterday and today, a bit heavy but good for making turns. It was definitely fun, whether > or < 2000m, the quality was ok in all expos.
Risks
We could hardly see any natural avalanches in the area, and we were also able to assess the slopes we were skiing on well in advance, so we were not negatively surprised.
Overall impression
The 2-day trip was definitely worth it, Port Du Soleil has something to offer for all weather conditions (visibility was not always good) and we were still able to find some white powder near the trees on the second day! A successful stay in this respect. Let's see what the next few days in Les Arcs bring!
The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.
Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
