Snow condition
see above, there's no lack of it! below, winter wonderland with 50-60cm of snow on the roofs and icicles that crackle :)
Snow quality
Last week's snow is what it promises to be. Snow from last week. there's snow in waadt from 500m, we were out and about between 2000 and 1100m. a wild mixture of everything here: firn on the south-facing slopes, melting hard cap where the sun hasn't (yet) been and powder! where the sun has never reached, that means strictly north.
Risks
Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)
today officially a 2 in our climes. we see many fish mouths on south-facing slopes and avoid crossings on steep south-facing slopes due to the warm midday temperatures. otherwise no cracks, no boom. at the top at altitude (≥ 3000) you can see wind flags:)
Overall impression
A melange of all colors in the Diablerets. who seeks, finds: after a little terrain reading, you'll find fresh, powdery, windless snow strictly north. Trees should be avoided: the snow from last week has become heavy from the sun, plumped down and so the snow consistency changes from tree to tree in dense coniferous forests. The wet, plumped down snow does not become softer in the north, of course, but retains its frozen cover. the untouched powder remains what it is - fun!
