Snow report Verbier, 01/07/2015
Viel Sonnenschein, zu milde Temperaturen, Pulverschneereste in höheren schattigen Lagen und nach wie vor eine ziemlich ungünstige Lawinensituation bestimmten die Verhältnisse der Neujahrswoche.

Snow condition
In the meantime, only a little of the 50 cm of Christmas week is left in the valley and there is very little snow below 2000 meters. Above that the snow has settled a little and at high altitudes above 2400 meters you can still find powder snow on the shady side, sometimes on a usable base, but often also on a thin layer!!!
Snow quality
Still split 3 ways. Top in the less frequented terrain at the top, super icy on the slopes in the lower area, off-piste a melting snow cover (so absolutely flop) and at medium altitudes it's heavily dependent on exposure but mostly still okay.
Risks
Still quite tense. I have rarely seen so many avalanches in the whole area as at the moment! Some of these are also on frequently used ski routes such as Stairways to heaven (exit) or on the easier variants of the Mont Fort Backside. The danger increases with altitude, so some medium-sized avalanches have also been spotted in less steep terrain! All exposures were (almost?) affected!
Overall impression
Freeriding in the 4 Vallées at the moment requires very good local knowledge, the motivation to hike a bit and, due to the avalanche situation, a lot of experience overall. The eagerly awaited (hopefully abundant) snowfall on Sunday in particular should therefore be enjoyed with great caution!
The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.
Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
