Snow condition
The snow conditions still leave a lot to be desired and restraint is required. Roots are dug up in the forest, soil and stones are found right up to the highest altitudes on the south side and there are still plenty of stones in general. It's more like one and a half stars than two.
Snow quality
20 to 30 cm (locally a little more) of very light fresh snow in places. In some exposed south and east-facing areas, there was a light wind cover or drifts. Otherwise top.
Risks
Tricky. It was OK in busy terrain, but very tense in less frequented terrain. A group that was touring a variant of Backside, which has probably hardly been skied or not skied at all this season, triggered several very large boards. Even on the standard variant of Backside, a group triggered a large board by traversing into a less tracked, partly already skied part of the slope (no one was buried).
Overall impression
The day was actually really good, but the still rather thin snow cover and the tense avalanche situation in the rarely used terrain dampened the mood somewhat. The tricky avalanche situation will probably be with us for quite a while this winter and limit our options.
