Inversion of the lower Valais - Les Marecottes
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
No stone contact in Marecottes. There is a lot lying around. However, solar radiation is very strong and sun-exposed slopes are already showing some rocks melting free.
Snow quality
Slight sun crust, but generally nice and soft and very well preserved in the shade or under the inversion cover and still real powder.
Risks
The bulletin stated that the considerable amount of fresh snow from the beginning of the week could only be triggered under considerable additional load. The snow cover is really impressive, see picture with ski poles on the draw path. Some of the sun-baked slopes are already sliding during the afternoon in a spring-like manner and there is a risk of the snow rotting through there.
Overall impression
Great weather, powder, and not much going on.
