Sanetsch area with heavy fresh snow
Snow condition

Snow condition
Around 50 cm of fresh snow has fallen here in the Sanetsch region since Tuesday morning. Compared to the regions seen so far, Arolla, Nax, Lötschental, there was already considerably more here. The SLF maps confirm this. It is therefore possible to ski down here without touching the ground.
Snow quality
The fresh snow fell in this valley with little wind and temperatures around or slightly above freezing. With the amount of snow and poor visibility, treeskiing was the order of the day, which was balm for this season's battered freeskiing soul. From 1500 m downwards, the snow became a little wetter, but still pleasant to ski. All in all, the best conditions.
Risks
LLB level 3: With this amount of fresh snow, extreme caution is again the order of the day; level 4 has been issued for this part of Valais for tomorrow. There were no visible signs due to the poor visibility. The susceptible layer of old snow deep in the snowpack still appears to be potentially very dangerous.
Overall impression
A great day despite poor visibility. This area offers great potential with many tour options and peaks and is not developed for tourism. The snowcats and the terrain are somewhat reminiscent of Canada. We finally had some fresh snow, which was more fun again.
