You can tell that it hasn't snowed for a long time and that the snow conditions are generally not very good this year. On the sunny side you can strap on your skis from around 1700m, on the north side still in the valley. There should be more at all altitudes.

We still found a few patches of partly powdery snow. However, you should expect crushed snow and windsnow as well as different types of melted snow. Unfortunately, due to the wind and clouds, there was no proper firn on either Saturday or Sunday.

Risks

The snow cover has stabilized thanks to the long period of fine weather. However, the old snow problem is likely to have persisted, at least on the north side. A few new snow packs have formed due to the foehn.

Nice tour on Sunday with character-building wind conditions and surprisingly acceptable snow in places. Objectively speaking, it should be snowing again now. Here is a picture of the Bec des Rosses from Saturday. For a nice anniversary edition of the Extreme in two weeks, we still need a good dump of snow.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
