Snow condition

Snow is wind affected on open faces and slabby in protected zones. Warm conditions over the weekend left a crust, but fresh snow on Monday has left powder in some places.

Snow quality

Snow from Monday is light density. One feels a crust at lower elevations or in wind affected areas.

Risks

After a high spike last week, the warm days and cold nights have helped things bond nicely. The official report says avalanche conditions are 'Moderate'. Some slabs exist on north aspects that are still unconsolidated and may move. For the most part, things are pretty stable, and will stabilize further with the sunny weather this week.

Overall impression

The sun is finally out in Valais and the snow is stabilizing. Some small pockets of instability exist, but so does lots of good skiing. Conditions should hold for the next few days while it stays cold. Enjoy it!

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
