Snow report Vinschgau Valley, 01/27/2018
Ski tour on the Reschen Pass
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
It's really good for the very dry upper Vinschgau Valley, and it's currently possible to ski down to the valley practically everywhere in all exposures without any problems, which doesn't happen too often here. ridges and crests are sometimes heavily blown away, and entire slopes have been more or less completely cleared of snow by huge avalanches.
Snow quality
Mixed. Broken snow on the sunny side and some firn at lower altitudes. Otherwise, either very firm powder snow (especially below the tree line) or windswept snow (almost everywhere above the tree line).
Risks
The situation is currently relatively relaxed. However, you can still see the impressive avalanches of the last week everywhere, with some forest and a few barns having been hit. At the moment, watch out for drift snow, and there is already a lot of surface frost in places, which will cause problems again when the next snowfall comes.
Overall impression
Great weather, little going on, beautiful area and lots of snow. Despite broken snow in the upper third 4 stars, one is extra because our tour can probably only be done in one out of 10 winters.
