Snow condition

There is snow in the area (upper Vinschgau with Val Mustair, Rojental, Langtauferertal and Matschertal), but there is not enough snow for skiing in all the above-mentioned valleys. Ski tours in the Matschertal can be refrained from for the time being. You need snow there, lots of snow. The snow conditions in the Langtauferer Valley are a little better, but I wouldn't recommend ski tours there. Something is possible in Val Mustair, but the choice of routes is limited to gullies and hollows, especially on the descent. We found the best snow conditions today in the Rojental. However, quite a lot of snow has been dumped there locally and not all tours can be recommended without reservation. However, we were able to do a tour every day and stone skis are recommended.

It was cold today too. Powder good!!! Rain only from the top of the Reschenpass on the return journey. Descent today still in powder, in the sun, from the summit to the PP. Mostly free choice of route possible today, but it really depends on the slope exposure.

Risks

The tense 3 has its justification. We still have to be careful, in addition to the old snow and sliding snow problems, there is now also a massive drift snow problem. A strong northerly wind was forecast today.

Overall impression

The weather was pretty sunny all week. Cold winds from west to north have preserved the snow very nicely. Since yesterday it got warmer and this morning it thawed in Mals. Later it rained on the north ramp of the Reschenpass. The ski areas in Rojental, Nauders and Schöneben are open and the slopes look very well groomed. Haideralm and Wattles were still closed today, as was the ski area in Mischuns (on the Ofenpass).

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
