Snow condition
Just under three stars - for the region rather in the upper 2 range. At 1500m about 50-60cm in sheltered locations from about 1700m 1m. But stone contact was easy to avoid.
Snow quality
On Saturday, a well-set foundation with approx. 10-15 cm of light snow on top (top layer of frost) in a westerly exposure. With the strong sunlight, the snow became heavier from the early afternoon. Sunday still nice and loose and powdery on the north side. Overall very nice to ride, therefore 3 stars.
Risks
A stability test (ECT) on the west side 30° around 1900-2000m revealed a well-set snowpack structure in the upper 80cm (without weak layers). Below this was a very thin layer of loose snow on top of the layer of hard snow close to the ground. However, this was not responsive in the ECT and only broke when the block was levered with a rough breaking edge. The warm ground is still having an effect in the southern sector. Due to the strong warming in the sun, some self-excavations from rocky terrain which tore through to the ground in the further course (size 1)
Overall impression
Saturday dream weather and great untracked lines. Sunday then a nice short tour in the area of the tree line.
