Snow condition

50 cm fresh snow
Descent to valley (to 800 m)
Blown backs
Stone Contact avoidable

At 850m at the start 15-20cm, at 1500m in sheltered areas a good 50cm of fresh snow. In blown-in areas sometimes 1m. The descent was cautious up to 800m. In the Nagelfluhkette, there was only snow on the north side and in the south-east gullies, the rest was bare. Now you can ski up to 1400m on the south side without any problems (it wasn't any deeper in the south), you can let it rip in the gullies, avalanche deposits are well snowed in. Even the forest looked possible. Tomorrow there will be a lot of snow, but there could be more next week. Then it will look really good at the top.

Powder snow
Wind drifted snow

The drift snow, which is actually over, has a bit of resistance, but in itself very good powder snow with a layer of gray. South/southwest was already difficult after a few minutes of sun, but I only had these areas on the ascent. Best on the north side.

Wind drifted snow

North North-Eas East South-East South South-West West North-West

Intensity: medium

Above: 1000 m

Risks

Much fresh snow
North-Eas East

Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)

Due to the altitude at the border of level 2/3, there is drift snow almost everywhere, but the danger spots (steep enough) are small and quickly passed. There is no longer a problem with old snow at these altitudes. In the morning I heard a few explosions, otherwise nothing was observed.

Overall impression

Equal

After the first descent, it was already clear that this had to be my 5-star day. I simply did everything right today. I was speculating that it would open up more than forecast. That didn't really happen, but the gaps came so regularly that, apart from one descent, I was always able to ski with sunshine and good visibility. 2000m, 1500m of which I skied alone on virgin slopes, not one other person on the way, first lines in powder snow in every gully, on every slope. And completely sunny from 3 pm. And all this on one of my absolute favorite tours. The only annoying thing was that some alp owners thought they had to clear the Steigbachtal down to the dirt on the day of the snowfall in March and spread it out so that it was also next to the track in the snow. You could have skied almost all the way down in powder, but no, you have to walk large sections. Because I haven't skied enough today. Well, it's still my 5-star day, the rest was just too perfect. Another thanks to Dad for picking me up. Because of the tracks and running downhill, there wasn't enough time for the last bus back to the starting point.
