Snow condition
As so often, there is a lot going on at the Gunzesrieder Säge... at least you can start skiing straight away. In the summit area around the Riedbergerhorn, the top 400 m descent is good. However, branches and mountain pines still peek out sometimes and have to be circled around on the descent. Not much is possible in the forest yet!
Snow quality
Race powder on the north side from 1200m. Otherwise cardboard snow everywhere.
Risks
Wind intensity: No Wind (0 km/h)
Sliding snow observed on the Bleicherhorn. Otherwise little drift snow or signs of dry avalanches. Hoarfrost in shady hollows!
Overall impression
Overall, rather modest snow conditions compared to the higher altitudes. In the foothills around the Riedbergerhorn, the rain has probably destroyed some of the fresh snow from the beginning of December. The fresh snow from the last few days lies on a crust of rain that you can feel on the steep terrain and makes skiing a little less fun. If you don't like skiing on cardboard snow, you should rather choose tours with a high starting and summit point
