Exposition
Snow condition
Significantly less in the valley than in the Salzkammergut, increasing rapidly with altitude. Forest from about 1300/1400m very well snowed in (deadwood, but also streams etc.). I include the fresh snow from yesterday (incl. the night before yesterday to yesterday).
Snow quality
Cardboard snow at the bottom due to the warming since yesterday. Then from about 1400m in the forest fine powder snow (fresh snow from yesterday and tonight). Further up there is a lot of wind (north-west side, therefore more on the hard side), but good to ski. In the shaded forest from 1400 to 1800m 4-star quality and also quite deep).
Wind drifted snow
Intensity: medium
Risks
Wind intensity: Medium (20 – 40 km/h)
Strong cornice formation on the northeast-southwest oriented summit ridge (Hahnalpl).
Overall impression
Still very fine powder snow in the forest today. Further down, however, only on the shaded side, as the sun came out all afternoon and, in combination with the significant warming, really "fried" the snow. Nevertheless, the fourth star is awarded, as a few hundred meters of altitude, the beautiful weather and the fact that we were the only ones who were able to ski first lines speak for it.
