Snow condition

20 cm fresh snow
Descent to valley (to 1000 m)

Pretty much in line with winterkind's observations. It's getting a bit tight at the start of the tours. Good snow conditions from around 1300m. There is usually still enough snow on the forest roads, which you almost always need here. The summit regions are pretty blown off, which is why we always look for the notches next to the summits as our destination.

Powder snow

The fresh snow from during the week has created a soft base. At the weekend, around 10 cm of cold snow was added overnight. Somewhat below the blown-off summit regions, the fresh snow was a dream on both days. In the sparse high forest it was even better than on open slopes, where you could sometimes feel a light crust. Five stars between 1850 and 1300m in the northern sector.

Risks

Fresh avalanches
North North-Eas North-West

Wind intensity: Medium (20 – 40 km/h)

The LWB gave out 1/2 on both days. In the north sector, where we were out and about, the snow cover appeared to be well settled and the fresh snow was well connected to the old snow. The southern sector was much more critical: we were able to observe some self-releasing (drift snow) on steep slopes. Due to the old snow problem, steep, shady slopes at high altitudes should also be avoided.

Very beautiful touring days with almost perfect conditions in the north/northwest exposures. The descents in the forest aisles and in the sparse high forest will be remembered for a long time. Due to the cold, the activities are certainly still very rewarding this week. More of this please!

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
