Skitour bei bestem Wetter im Zauchtal.

Snow condition
All in all, the snow conditions are quite solid. Today we were mainly out and about in the north and north-west exposures below the tree line. In the sparse forest and on alpine meadows, the snow conditions are quite good. In the fairly dense forest (there were only a few vertical meters) you have to expect contact with the enemy. In this section, however, only very passive skiing was possible anyway due to the density of the forest.
Snow quality
Beautiful set powder in the pure north sector. The sinking depths are manageable, but the snow there is still soft as butter. As soon as the sun comes into play, the snow becomes much heavier and will soon develop a crust in the coming days. Today it was still easy to ski.
Risks
Very relaxed on our tour today. We found a lot of surface frost in places today. This had a thickness of up to 10 cm. Depending on how the temperature develops before the next snowfall, this could pose a problem. Temperatures at the start were in the double-digit minus range and rose significantly with increasing altitude. We found the most frost in sheltered northern locations.
Overall impression
One tour in the best weather and still quite usable snow.
