From zero to one hundred in 1.5 days and all with a manageable wind influence on our current playground. Today we were traveling in an altitude range from 1300 m to 1900 m. There was between 50 cm and a maximum of 70 cm. In a sheltered sparse forest, it was possible to ride without contact with the enemy. Above the tree line, you could see the influence of the wind very clearly and the snow cover there was therefore very inhomogeneous. A little more snow is definitely needed for alpine destinations.

Due to the rise in temperature, there was already a slight settling, which didn't bother us at all in the morning. The fresh snow was as smooth as butter. Our choice of terrain was almost too flat for the snow. As the day progressed, the wind became stronger and the rising temperatures also affected the snow. The quality was great until lunchtime, but in the afternoon it was certainly no longer comparable to the morning. We were back in the car by lunchtime.

Risks

Quite relaxed in our moderate terrain until midday. However, snow plumes were already clearly visible in the summit regions from mid-morning. At the moment there are three main dangers: drifting snow due to the Föhn storm, sliding snow avalanches from steep meadow slopes due to the rise in temperature and terrain traps where the snow conditions are not yet sufficient. The next few days will certainly change the overall situation.

Mid-November, best weather, lots of fresh snow with good quality and no people on the mountain until midday, what more could a skier's heart want!

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
