Despite the warm temperatures over the last few days, there is still plenty of snow. Where it is now becoming critical, however, is on the windward sides above the tree line. The wind was quite strong and in some places there was hardly any snow at all. There is about 1.40m of snow in the forest.

Overnight there was about 30-40cm of fresh snow and today there was also some more snow during the day. The snow was quite powdery, but it solidified towards the afternoon. Above the tree line there was quite a lot of drift snow, at least that's what it looked like. As most of the lifts were closed and visibility was very poor, we were only out and about in the trees.

Risks

According to the LLB warning level 3, I would confirm this, but I would say that it is a rather tense 3. Towards the afternoon in particular, you could clearly see that the fresh snow was settling. Due to the rain over the last few days, there is a thin layer of snow about 5-10 cm thick. This serves as a good slide. The drifting snow was also not without its problems, and unfortunately the wind picked up again towards midday and did not die down as predicted.

In the right place at the right time :) We played poker with the lifts and were lucky this time that the Holzalm chairlift was open. Apart from the two tugs in the valley, everything else was closed today.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
