Ahornspitze - tremendous conditions
Snow condition

Overall impression
Snow condition
There is enough snow to ski down the forest path to the road into the Zillergrund. There is quite a lot of snow at the top, a measured 2.7m in the cirque below the Ahornspitze. In the west gully between the 2 peaks, the first 20 m are still very rocky, so climb down there or slide down carefully.
Snow quality
Descent from the Filzenkogel north-east side: snow of the finest kind. Also very powdery snow in the west gully of the Ahornspitze, with a little wind influence. Thanks to the cold temperatures and hardly any sunshine, good powder snow down the entire Steinkarl (north side).
Risks
The wind was already noticeable on the ridge to the Ahornspitze. Snow is still very powdery due to the cold temperatures and can therefore be transported by the wind. The main problem today, however, was the sluff. Some of the snow was very powdery and unbound. As a result, there is a lot of sluff on steeper slopes and sliding snow avalanches remain an issue, a large mouth can be seen below the Filzenkogel.
Overall impression
To my great surprise, no one had been on the Ahornspitze since the last snowfall. As a result, there were first lines from the Filzenkogel down into the Fellenbergkar and also through the west gully of the Ahornspitze via the Steinkarl into the Zillergrund. The summit ridge is currently easy to walk without crampons, rather difficult because of the powder snow. The only difficult part is the transition from the pre-summit to the main summit, which you have to climb to reach the west gully.
Great terrain and many vertical meters in great snow. The tour is probably rarely done in such brilliant conditions. You have to give it 5 stars for that.
On the Powdustiner scale it would probably even be 10 stars :D
