Hintertux - Kurztouren Richtung Schlegeisspeicher
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
The general snow situation is definitely good. However, the wind must have blown quite a bit in the last few days because most of the ridges are pretty blown off. So watch out for sharks, depending on the route you choose.
Snow quality
Very changeable due to the influence of the wind. On the north side, some of it is completely hard and wind-pressed, with a few centimetres of drift snow on top. On the south side, there is sometimes a hard layer of powdery snow. It is best to ski in hollows, where you will find good powder snow without getting through to a hard crust.
Risks
Due to the strong influence of the wind, you should definitely watch out for drift snow, which is very brittle due to the cold temperatures.
Overall impression
Skied down towards Schlegeisspeicher 2 times and skinned up again at an altitude of approx. 2500m and walked back to the lift. We still found good snow in the hollows, but overall the snow was not as good as we had hoped due to the wind. Nevertheless, 2 nice and lonely lines in good weather.
