Variations of snow cover

The snow conditions in the Zilleertal are generally quite good. At least above approx. 1400m except on south-facing slopes where there is little snow up to 1700m. Above these altitudes, freeriding is relatively easy up to blown-off ridges and ridges.

Wind drifted snow

Great powder, a little gritty to ride.

Wind drifted snow

North North-Eas

Intensity: medium

Risks

West North-West

Wind intensity: Medium (20 – 40 km/h)

Significant wind loads in the ridges today. There were also clear drift snow packs that were easy to recognize. These are easy to disturb but relatively thin due to the small amount of fresh snow of approx. 20cm. Some small loose snow slides on the old snow cover. Warming and freshening wind from the west/northwest during the course of the day

Worse

Nice freeride day in the Zillertalarena unfortunately the fresh snow is not enough to get through to the top below so we had to stay in the forest on the shaded side. There you could ski great above the tree line, even north-facing on a hard base under the 20cm of fresh snow. The next few days will be exciting but the chances of the powder holding up in the high forest are pretty slim. Otherwise we can only hope that the rollercoaster of temperatures will go downhill again and a refresh will come. Until then, stay safe

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
