Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Altitude
1500 - 3200m
Avalanche warning level
moderate (2)
Exposition
Snow condition
sufficient but on our descent to the south we had to ski around stone islands below 2400m. Glacier sufficiently snow-covered.
Snow quality
We had firn in mind. 3200-2900 Harsch cover, then fine fizz underneath
Risks
Wind intensity: Medium (20 – 40 km/h)
Little drift snow despite noticeable foehn here on the main ridge. In the extreme steep terrain east 1-2 day old wet snow slides.
Overall impression
A firn tour with great summits and a good descent in perfect weather. Thanks to the high starting point and moderate melt despite little snow, sufficient for a tour to the south. Was top - extra star for lost place romance and solitude.
