Snow condition
The snow conditions are good. However, the south-facing slopes are mostly bare. However, tours are possible on the remaining exposures. You can ski down to the valley.
Snow quality
The quality of the snow depends heavily on the exposure and altitude. The snow cover still froze through at night. However, in the valley, the sun was already so strong in the morning that the snow had thawed. Further up, there was initially hard snow that more or less thawed during the day. Overall, the snow cover above 1600m remained stable all day and only thawed superficially at most. The conditions for skiing varied. There was firn, harsh snow, hard spots with a lot of snow and at the bottom there was wet, slushy snow that was difficult to ski.
Risks
Overall, the situation was fine. In the valley, the snowpack was already very soaked by midday, while further up in northern exposure there was no loss of stability. The situation was different on east- and west-facing slopes where larger avalanches (from yesterday) could be observed (see photo).
