Exposition
Snow condition
Usually there is no snow at all on these southern slopes at the beginning of April. Thanks to the heavy snowfall last week, everything above 1400m was easy to ski today. A few days of sunshine and everything will be green again.
Snow quality
Damp air and warm temperatures have often turned the cold powder of the past few days into a nasty swamp up to well over 2000m in all exposures. Harsch cover was a maximum of 5cm thick and just barely supportive with skins. Departure at 9 to 9:30 was optimal today - very short time window for the descent.
Risks
Wind intensity: No Wind (0 km/h)
Some very large avalanches came down yesterday due to the first soaking on the north side. Start early and finish the tour...
Overall impression
The night was cloudless, the air was warm and not particularly dry, so today I just took a leisurely stroll around the alpine meadows and enjoyed the sun.
