Hochfügen - Fresh snow but no powder on a damp, soaked base
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
The base would also have been usable if the fresh snow had been of the right quality. On the north side you can still get down with an eye. You actually took fewer stones with you than you thought when you were skiing.
Snow quality
15 ca new but no powder. The very high humidity with the relatively mild temperatures and the diffuse radiation have done their work. Probably also fell as wet snow. That was nothing! But nice powder is rare in April.
Risks
Not without. In the morning everything was already damp and even down to the ground. But still relatively safe. Then with increasing radiation and temperature more critical so that some wet chutes were triggered. That could have been enough in larger slope systems. A lot has already come together in the slides. No huge avalanches but be careful in very steep terrain. But everything was relatively small here. Drift snow didn't play a role at all. If a board comes off, then in my opinion on the ground, but there wasn't enough stabilization today.
Overall impression
That was nothing. The first hour was still kind of ok. But with the very poor visibility afterwards, it wasn't really fun. The area closes tomorrow. I've rarely experienced so little activity, the piste just for yourself and the fog is also quite nice.
