Powderdays im Juni sind leider nur kurze Vergnügen

Snow condition
Up on the glacier there is more snow than there has been all winter. Actually everything up to Tuxer Fernerhaus is possible without any problems (crevasses well covered). Otherwise, all exposures up to 2300m are snow-free. The first snow fields start above this on the north side. Ski tours are actually only possible on the Hoher Riffler from Hintertux.
Snow quality
Above 3000m quite powdery dry powder (good for June). Below that it slowly gets heavier up to 2700m. Then only cardboard below that. However, the powder only lasted until 10.30 then everything was soaked up to the top (also on the north side due to the diffuse radiation).
Risks
Overnight, the snow has already disappeared from the steep flanks. Therefore rather poor conditions for ice walls etc. As the snow soaked through, it also came loose on the steeper freeride descents.
Overall impression
Weathery day and now I think it's at least the end of the freeride season in powder in the Eastern Alps. But you should never say never. Quite a crowd on the glacier. Only the tows are still up there. However, you can easily push/hike over to the Kaserer T-bar lift and make your tracks away from the hustle and bustle. The June powder days are rather short, but I went biking in Mayrhofen afterwards. A successful day.

Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.
Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
