The piste is covered in beautifully rolled powder snow. There are only a few icy patches. Remnants of the sheeting that protected the glacier in summer still peeked out in a few places and suddenly slowed down the skis. Off-piste, the crevasses are still very wide open. Judging by the tracks of the snow groomers, they are currently busy closing them in places. I can only advise against taking a risk, as you can't really talk about a powder experience. Right at the edge of the piste, a hole opened up that was several meters deep. Presumably another crevasse that had been closed!

Nice and powdery on the piste as mentioned above. Ice in places (depending on exposure). Off-piste, the terrain is very changeable. In places, blown powder snow alternating with icy slabs. Not a pleasant experience for the thighs

Risks

I couldn't see any remnants of avalanches that had gone down, nor any dangers that would indicate this. However, I would like to expressly point out the crevasses that some skiers have recklessly skied around today in order to enjoy the view into the depths! Excursions into the "vegetables" next to the piste are not advisable in most of the ski area.

A very rewarding day, with snow like you won't find in many other ski resorts in January. All this in glorious sunshine and with few people on the slopes.

I can only advise all those who are undecided: get in the car and head to the glacier to prepare your thighs for the real powder days

:D :D
