Snow report Zillertal Alps South, 04/04/2015
Ski tour southern Tux Alps (Vals Valley)
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
There's not much snow. On the north side, there is just enough snow on forest roads down into the valley, in the forest there is hardly any at the bottom, even in aisles it is no longer possible. Driving in the forest is not really possible even higher up, above the tree line on the north side ok. On the south side it's practically bare up to 2000m.
Snow quality
Mostly almost 20cm of light powder on load-bearing crust. Only above 2000m was the crust no longer load-bearing in places. In the ridges, the snow was quite wind-affected, but still easy to ski. A little more fresh snow would have been nice, as you get through the hard crust on every third turn...
Risks
With increasing altitude and thus increasing wind influence, more and more snow was transported during the course of the day. Overall, however, relatively manageable due to the stable crust in the areas we visited (up to 2200m).
Overall impression
Quite nice, but it's been better. Too bad there's so little snow, it probably won't last much longer here.

Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.
Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
