Snow report Zillertal Alps South, 04/21/2018

Overall impression
Snow condition
Very good snow conditions, descent to the parking lot at 1700 still possible. Very steep south-facing slopes below 2200 are open or have been cleared by avalanches. However, the high temperatures of the last week have definitely affected the snow cover, especially further down.
Snow quality
Thanks to the clear nights, the snow cover above 1800 was able to freeze through well and with the right timing you could get fantastic firn conditions. Applies to descent southeast at 9:15 from 3200 bjs 2000.
Risks
It is very warm and the sun is strong. You should be back at the car by late morning. Many very large avalanches have occurred that I have not seen in other years. Not everything has gone down yet either.
Overall impression
Wonderful day and wonderful downhill conditions. Snow conditions very good compared to other years. Should stay good for longer when the heat hopefully breaks sometime soon.
