Snow report Zillertal Alps South, 04/28/2017

Snow condition

There's been quite a bit of precipitation here since Wednesday, unfortunately the snow line was quite high, so you can only do something with it from around 1800m. Before that, however, there was only snow above 2500m on the north side. I still give it two stars because it hasn't actually had any more here all winter and you can get down to 1800 on meadows and in the light forest without coming into contact with stones.

Snow quality

Very good for the end of April, light and powdery and fell with little wind influence. From 10:30 south and east already heavy. Above 2300 sometimes light wind crust. Tomorrow probably only on the north side as good as today.

With the amount of snow that has fallen (according to the measuring stations in the area 70cm+ at 2000m) I was expecting a 4 for today. However, it was "only" a three. I would confirm that, most of the snow fell without a big storm. I wouldn't have gone on any big tours today though, I think the choice to stay on closed pistes and meadows was a very sensible one.

Overall impression

After Japril, Febril and Märjuni, now Apruar? I'll gladly take it. Best day of this "winter".
