Snow condition
Yes, winter finally seems to be here. However, it was already zero degrees at 2500 and I'm afraid it won't last that long.
Snow quality
Where it stays cold in the shade, it's great. Where it had rained on the west side, not quite so fine.
Wind drifted snow
Intensity: strong
Risks
Wind intensity: Low (< 20 km/h)
Lots of remote releases and small to medium avalanches by people in the northwest sector where the wind had filled up a lot before this in the direct vicinity of the lift. Although it has been blasting almost continuously since Saturday morning with little success in St-Luc and Chandolin. There's a crust of rain on top of it right up to the ridges and another lamella at around thirty centimetres in the snowpack. The first slides then release the lower large layer of fresh snow with a bit of force and it quickly becomes massive. Seen from a distance, the north side of Zinal has also lost a lot of snow.
Avalanche activity
Dry slab avalanche (small)
Altitude: 2400 m
Overall impression
It got very warm at some point today. And as you don't dare to go further up, you just enjoy every turn in the cruiser terrain. However, the deep new slope is great fun in the vegetables and between the neatly planted trees.
