Snow condition
Fairly massive snow cover at the start on the Fernpass. Quite a lot of snow on the rocks on the north side of the Ferpass channel. No rock contact. Many steep lines possible
Snow quality
There is still good set powder on the north side and protected from the wind. In places, there are hard or wind-influenced spots such as partially covered ascent tracks. During the course of the day, slightly heavier snow cover in the steep gully terrain but no moisture penetration
Risks
It was easy to avoid very small, clearly visible snow packs. In the steep terrain, the set snow hollows well. Every now and then there is some sluff.
Overall impression
Stable touring conditions !
