Sunny and Cloudy Alpspitze
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
There is still enough snow, at least on the north side and above approx. 1200m. On the south side, the sun is doing its job and creating melting conditions. It wasn't quite as extreme today thanks to a few clouds.
Snow quality
Top slopes in the morning. Terrain only north side ok. Everything else is melted/frozen/melted etc.. From midday east-south-west firn. Due to very good slope conditions and good north conditions 3*.
Risks
Compared to yesterday in Oberstorf, we didn't have any wet slides today. Basically, the snow was set and bound in all exposures. We weren't out and about above 2100m.
Overall impression
Today's outing falls under the category of an exploration day. We had seen some ski tourers heading towards the Alpspitze and other peaks, which was certainly a good alternative. I think the slopes should be north-facing at the moment if you want to enjoy some powder. Aside from the pistes, almost everything was snow-covered. But the slopes and weather were great.
