Slopes in Garmisch skiable throughout. There is a fair amount of snow on the north face of the Alpspitz. But too little for a continuous descent. Very little snow on the Alpspitz east face, especially in the steep narrow section. The forest path to the Bernadeienlift is getting worse from day to day.

In the north face ok. Some wind cover. Sometimes some ice. Not ideal for a descent. On the east flank you have to leave in good time for good firn. We were late and it was already freezing. It was pretty harakiri. Suddenly, 35 degree terrain where you normally plow through in big turns feels like steep wall descents in la Grave. The western flank we were aiming for would have been good firn, but unfortunately there was too little snow and too many rocky passages.

Risks

There was hardly any fresh drift snow. Nevertheless, old tracks were often closed. Nevertheless, be careful of hard, brittle boards in the north face. Otherwise, the risk of falling can be classified as much more dangerous due to the warm temperatures and the freezing at night. In the afternoon, almost all the slopes turn into ice fields. Crampons, crampons and ice axes are highly recommended at the moment

More snow is needed!!! Right now you can work on your climbing skills. Or with good timing you can catch beautiful firn...unfortunately, despite the low avalanche danger, not the best steep face conditions due to the thin snow cover and the hard snow surface
