still plenty of snow, only the summit a little blown off

Ascent track in the forest towards Stuibenhütte super icy, very easy to walk further up. I had expected firn on the eastern slope, but this area is probably too flat for that. Further south, it was frozen or firn, and in the north-facing descent (Mauerscharte) there was even powder (blown in)

Risks

The diurnal warming must be taken into account. The conditions are like they used to be in April, except that it is still February.

A nice little tour for those "still" with the flu... I would have liked to use the great untracked snow in the Mauerscharte and the northern slopes of the Stuibenkopf several times. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough strength for that today.
The descent area where Alpspitze, Grießkar etc. meet was well groomed.
There were about 15 people on the descent on the Alpspitzostwand at around 11:30. It should have firned up well there.
