Unfortunately only a little fresh snow. In the valley about 3 cm further up maybe 10 cm, but difficult to say because there was a lot of wind and humps, ridges and crests were blown off. Nothing works without artificial snow in the valley.

The fresh snow is packed, but still loose and nice to ride when you can find it... in hollows, gullies or in the forest.

Risks

Next to the piste in very flat terrain, I once noticed settling noises in the old snow cover. Tourers coming down from Hochwannig reported that they had turned around 100m below the summit after digging a snow profile. It wasn't the fresh snow that was the problem, but a deeper layer.

It was enough for a few nice turns, but you really had to look for the right spot. It was best between the trees, but only higher up where there was still a bit of a base. The snow might be ok for a tour tomorrow. The conditions are not good enough for powdering with air support.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
