Snow condition

The amount of snow in the Wetterstein is now only small. Ski tours are only possible to a limited extent at medium and high altitudes. The warm temperatures of the last week in particular have taken a lot of the snow. Conditions are better in northern exposures.

Snow quality

The snow quality was extremely poor. By midday, the snow cover was already completely soaked and so the snow alternated between packed snow, ice, slush and rotten snow. However, it should be mentioned that there is still powder on the north side! As the snow cover only froze through on the surface last night, the ground was very wet, unstable and the snow quality was poor. Of course, the conditions are better the earlier you are out and about.

Risks

In my opinion, the avalanche situation was extremely precarious on slopes exposed to the sun, as the temperatures were so high and the snowpack so unstable.

Super tour and the via ferrata has been used a lot in the last week.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
