Snow report Zugspitz Arena, 03/17/2019
Early bird was rewarded with some firn despite not quite optimal planning :-) South-facing slopes above Lähn.

Snow condition
Snow from the parking lot, but not too much. If there are a few more warm days, it might soon be necessary to carry. Then you quickly carry quite a long way, the first 4-500 m already have stones, branches etc. sticking out.
Snow quality
Good firn in places. At the very top of Pfuitjöchle, the cover was partially broken, but with a bit of flair, we at least found some stable harsch cover. The descent then got better and better towards the bottom and was really good between 1800 and 1600 meters :-). Descent at 12 from Pitzenegg was too late, I guess we should have been at least an hour earlier for good firn. At the top it was a bit too deep, but still ok to ski. After about 200 meters of altitude we hit deep braking snow.
Risks
Finishing the tour early was super important, it was already really wet at twelve. We also saw some smaller slides from today. Otherwise the south side was safe today.
Overall impression
Very cool - especially for the fact that it only stopped snowing on Friday, there were some cool firn turns :-)
