Snow condition
A good 15 cm of fresh snow had fallen overnight, plus another 10 cm in the morning. Of course, you could feel the old crust in places, but if you took it a little easy, it was great to ride.
Snow quality
Fluffy powder on an icy crust, which you often don't even get through.
Risks
Sluff went down the steep part. The snow was still very loose. I didn't see any snowboards. The wind only got stronger towards midday and also shifted and made the snow a bit heavier.
Overall impression
A lonely day in the Alpspitz area. Okay, it was Monday, but it was still a bit strange at first that I was all alone, alone in the gondola and alone in the terrain. Usually that's a sign that the conditions aren't worthwhile. But the opposite was the case. It was great to ride and then untracked terrain right to the end. What more could you want?
The visibility was very poor at the beginning, but then there were more and more clearings and even sunshine. A snow shower in the morning brought another 10cm of fresh snow. So it was a great day and I don't even want to think about the end of winter yet.
