Exposition
Snow condition
Just under 50 m of skis shouldered, from 900 m just high enough for a mouse, then quickly ascending on approx. 25 cm of fresh snow. Most - but not all - stones covered in snow.
Snow quality
Today still good pow from 1,600m, slightly dusty. Quality quickly improving in the sun and close to the valley, but fine early and above the tree line today.
Risks
Wind intensity: Medium (20 – 40 km/h)
Massive wind influence, we were only upwind. Fresh snow slide from yesterday on north-facing slope with approx. 40 degrees. On the ascent before the ridge, a tricky transition from far too little snow with a wedge of snow breaking off the hairpin bends.
Overall impression
Pow again, the day's vacation was well spent. Only two colleagues ahead of us and sufficient visibility. Reasonable ascent and good descent, in the upper steep terrain we could feel a few ice bumps as we pushed through. Nevertheless: a gift in April.
