super firn on the Zugspitze

Snow condition
At the moment there is more snow down to around 1900m than ever before this winter. Ridges and ridges have disappeared under a thick blanket of snow. Carefree swinging without fear of stone contact is currently the order of the day.
Snow quality
It skied like firn, even though it was the first day after the bad weather period. Around 11 a.m. on the second ascent, the top became increasingly soft and I collapsed a few centimeters a few times on the ascent. From midday onwards it was certainly too soft.
Risks
There is no longer an LLB. Smaller and larger amounts of snow have slipped from steep slopes with increasing warming. Two fishmouths were visible below the summit. As the lifts are closed and the snow groomers making a snow dump were concentrated in a small area, it was very easy to stay away from steep rocks and move around on easy terrain without worry.
Overall impression
Another good day on the Zugspitze. Too bad the lifts are no longer in operation. There would still be enough snow until well into June. At least in the mornings, great firn runs would be possible. Now you just have to work up a sweat to get there.
