Snow condition
You have to take a differentiated view. If you start in Ehrwald, then you are very happy to be able to use the snow-covered slopes for the ascent and descent. Without it, I imagine tours below 1,500m would be painful. The "great at the top" refers to the areas above 1,800 m. Without rain, you can speak of "great" powder in places. Around 20-30cm from the Christmas precipitation.
Snow quality
The same applies here: at the bottom, the rain "disappeared" and the -6 degrees in the starry night turned what was left into World Cup-ready snow. At the top, i.e. from 2,000m, the snow is still light and nice to ski on.
Risks
At least in the open space around the Zugspitze, some areas were "defused" by artificial triggering. However, the considerable height of the cracked edge also shows the force behind the boards that were used there. In the area around the Gatterl and generally in gullies and hollows, there are still masses of drifting snow. At the bottom, the danger lurks just below the ceiling in the form of rock!
Overall impression
Difficult. If you want to have fun, you have to go high. Knowing full well that the ratio of ascent to fun on the descent is totally unbalanced! It's more pleasant to take the cable car up to the Zugspitze and ski the beautiful slopes all around with a 200-300 m ascent.
